THREE-CAR TEAM FOR SBR IN 2010 SP Tools-backed young gun Shane van Gisbergen will be part of a three-car Stone Brothers Racing assault on the 2010 Australian V8 Supercar championship this season.
Officially announcing its plans on Monday February 01 after a gala cocktail party on the Gold Coast on Friday January 29, team spokesman Ross Stone confirmed that young Australian driver Tim Slade will join van Gisbergen and Irwin Tools-backed 2009 teammate Alex Davison in a three-car Ford Falcon FG squad in 2010.
“The new #47 entry with Slade and Wilson Security will be run under the James Rosenberg license but will be in every way be an SBR car; we will be pitted alongside each other at race meetings and test, race and work together this season," Stone explained.
IRWIN Tools and SP Tools will resume their positions with SBR as naming rights sponsors of the #4 and #9 FG Falcons for the 2010 series, with Alex Davison and Shane van Gisbergen gearing up for their second years as teammates.
“I have never been so keen for the season to start as I am now. I had a great break over Christmas in New Zealand but can’t wait to get back to racing again,” said van Gisbergen.
“The SP Tools Racing Falcon looks fantastic! It’s great to have Lucky 7 on board as a new sponsor and Fuchs stepping up their sponsorship with SBR so hopefully I will do this new livery justice when we head to the Middle East later this month.”
Stone Brothers Racing will also continue the trend of developing young drivers in V8 Supercars, running 16-year-old Scott McLaughlin in the 2010 Fujitsu Development Series in Fujitsu colours.
SBR’s V8 Supercars will be on track for the first season test day at QLD Raceway next Tuesday before the series makes the trip to the Middle East for the season opener at the stunning Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi between February 18 & 20.
